The Digital Consultation: How to Send Useful Brow Photos Before Your Aura Beauty Appointment

Preparing for your permanent makeup appointment at Aura Beauty is an exciting first step toward waking up with perfect brows. A key part of that preparation is the digital consultation. While nothing replaces our in-person meeting at our Duluth studio, sending clear photos of your brows beforehand allows me, Justina Cho, to begin understanding your canvas. This preliminary review helps streamline your visit, making our time together more focused and efficient. Think of it as giving me a helpful head start on designing brows that complement your unique bone structure and aesthetic goals.

This guide will walk you through exactly how to take the most useful photos. Following these simple steps ensures I can see your natural brow shape, hair growth pattern, skin tone, and any asymmetry clearly. This process is especially valuable for clients visiting us from Suwanee, Buford, Lawrenceville, Johns Creek, and across Atlanta, as it makes every minute of your appointment count.

1. The Essential Tools: What You Need

You don’t need professional equipment. In fact, your smartphone is perfect. The goal is clarity and accuracy.

Your Camera

Use your phone's main rear camera, not the front-facing selfie camera. The rear camera typically has a higher resolution and less distortion, which is crucial for me to see fine details like hair strokes and skin texture.

Lighting is Everything

Natural, indirect daylight is the gold standard. Stand facing a large window, but not in direct sunlight, which creates harsh shadows. If taking photos at night, use multiple light sources in front of you (like room lamps) to avoid shadows cast by your brow bone. Avoid overhead lights and the flash on your camera.

PRO TIP: Please ensure your brows are completely clean and free of all makeup, including brow pencil, powder, and concealer. I need to see your natural hair and skin. If you typically get your brows shaped, please take photos before your next wax or thread appointment.

2. The Three Must-Have Photo Angles

To get a complete picture, I need three specific angles. Please take these photos with your hair pulled completely back from your face.

The Straight-On Front View

Look directly into the camera with a neutral, relaxed expression. Do not raise your eyebrows. This shows your overall facial symmetry and how your brows frame your eyes. Take this photo from the collarbone up.

The Forehead Close-Up

This is the most important photo. Get close enough so that your brows fill most of the frame, from the inner corner of one eye to the outer corner of the other. Ensure both brows are in focus. This allows me to analyze hair direction, density, and any sparse areas.

The Profile View

Take a photo of each side of your face. Turn your head 90 degrees to the left for the right brow, and 90 degrees to the right for the left brow. This shows me the arch height, tail length, and how your brows follow your orbital bone structure.

3. Common Photo Mistakes to Avoid

A few small errors can make a photo less helpful. Here’s what to watch for.

Blurry Images

Hold your phone steady or prop it against something. Tap on your brow area on the screen to ensure your phone focuses there, not on your hair or background.

Incorrect White Balance

Yellow or blue-tinted lighting can alter how I perceive your skin’s undertones. This is why daylight is best. If your photos look very warm (orange) or cool (blue), try adjusting your location.

Facial Expressions

Smiling, frowning, or raising your brows changes their position and shape. Maintain a relaxed, neutral face. This gives me the true resting placement of your brows.

REMINDER: Your photos are confidential and used solely for consultation purposes at Aura Beauty. They help me prepare initial design ideas before you arrive at our Duluth studio. You can send them via email after you book your appointment or via direct message if you have questions.

4. How to Send Your Photos & What Happens Next

Once you have your three clean, well-lit photos, please send them to me via email. You will receive specific instructions after booking. In your email, please include your full name and appointment date.

After I review your photos, I will have a much clearer understanding of your starting point. This preliminary analysis informs my approach, whether you’re interested in Microblading, Powder Brows, or our signature Pharmesthetic Superjection technique. Being one of the few Pharmesthetic-certified artists in the Atlanta metro allows me to use specialized methods for softer, more natural results, and your photos help me plan the perfect strategy.

When you arrive for your appointment in Duluth, we will discuss your photos together, confirm your desired shape and style, and proceed with the final, precise mapping directly on your skin. This combined approach, digital preview and hands-on artistry, ensures a collaborative and confident journey to your ideal brows.

For more on the specific techniques I offer, visit our detailed PMU Services page. If you’re curious about the science and artistry behind the Pharmesthetic method I use, you can learn more on our About page.

Taking a few minutes to follow this guide truly enhances your consultation experience. It allows us to dive deeper during your visit and aligns our vision from the very start. I look forward to seeing your photos and creating beautiful, personalized brows for you.
